News from Joe Spitzmiller

Ekkehard:
While searching the web for related genealogy sites, I ran across your website at: www.hilfe-hd.de/kaier It seems we have some common ancestors.
Leodegar (Louis) Spitzmüller/Spitzmiller, son of Josef Spitzmüller and Johanna Siebert, was my great grandfather (urgroßvater).  I calculate we are third cousins.  If you are interested, I have more information on your Spitzmüller relatives on my website at: http://users.sisna.com/joespitzmiller/deuspitz/deug09.htm#28. 
You can trace your Spitzmüller ancestors back one generation at a time by clicking on Josef's father, Mathias, then his father, Mathias, etc.  Or you can trace any one of Josef's descendants-Leodegar (Louis), Anton (Anthony), Ferdinand, etc.
I do not include descendants of female Spitzmüllers once they marry, so the Kaier descendants ends with Hermann Kaier. To see the introduction (in Deutsch) to this data base, scroll to the bottom of any page and click on the Pos 1 arrow.
I see we also correspond with some of the same people.  I've been in touch with Joyce Magee and her parents, Audrey and Alton Spitzmiller.  One of Audrey and Alton's pictures is even included on my website.

p.s.  I read on your website that you live near the Schloß in Heidelberg.  I spent about three months in Germany during 1972, much of the time in the Heidelberg area.  And of course, I visited the Schloß.

Ferdinand Spitzmiller in Germany ....

In 1880, Joseph Spitzmiller married Johanna * Siebert, and they got eight children:
Leodegar, Anton, Viktoria, Richard, Mathilde (they moved to USA)
and 
Ferdinand, Severin and Wendelin (they remained at Oberschopfheim near Strassbourg – between Frankfurt and Freiburg) .

Frieda (1982 - 1945) and Anna (1984 - 1948).

• Anna Spitzmiller married Herrmann Kaier in Freiburg; they got a son named Eugen Kaier 
  (1906 - 1975) and a daughter named Maria Kaier. Eugen Kaier visited the Spitzmillers 
  in Cincinnati/Ohio (Alton and Alfred) in 1953 (?).
  
• Maria Kaier married Gerd Voss, and they have three children:
  - Ingrid Voss married Werner; they live in Munich
  - Jürgen Voss married Inge, they live in Aachen with the children Sandra, Tina and Silvia.
  - Anne Voos married Walter; they live in Stuttgart with their son David.

• Eugen Kaier married Maria Schulte (*1907) and they have two sons Ekkehard (* 1944) 
  and Ulrich (*1947).
  - Ekkehard Kaier married Anita Hildebrandt (*1947) in 1977.
    Their Sons are Severin (*1980) and jakon (*1981)
  - Ulrich Kaier married Gabi Heck (*1947) in 1976; they have two girls Laura and Anna.
   -  Gabi died too early in 1993.

Anton Spitzmiller ...

Audrey and Alton Spitzmiller gave me the following informations, when we visited them in 
Florida in 1996/97:

• Anton Spitzmiller (*1883) married Eufrosina *Witt and they had four children: 
  Amalie, Adolph, Viktoria and Joseph.
  
• Adolph Spitzmiller married Anna *Schuchmann in 1915 and they have four children too: 
  Robert, Alfred, Alton and Virginia.
  
• Alfred Spitzmiller married Miriam *Kissinger; their children are Gery and Linda.
  
• Alton Spitzmiller married the loveley Audrey *Hartmann and they have five children: 
  Joyce, Roger, Rebecca (Becky), Jeff and Amy.
  
• Joyce Spitzmiller married Tim Magee; they have three children: Bill (*70), Sally (*75) and 
  Patrick (*78). 
  Roger Spitzmiller married Madonna; they still live in Ft.Lauderdale.
  Rebecca (Becky) Spitzmiller married Gianni Caracci; they live in Rome/Italy with their son 
  Christian.
  Jeff Spitzmiller married Carol Chambliss and they have a daughter, Melissa.
  Amy Spitzmiller married Bob Banov; they have a son named Carson and live in Vero Beach, 
  central-south of Florida.
  
• Linda Spitzmiller married Mike LaDow; they have two sons David and Eric.

Viktoria Spitzmiller in the USA ...
Neal Richter gave me this informations at his visit in Heidelberg in 8.9.1997

Viktoria Spitzmiller married Adolph Richter. Their six children are Mathilda (Tillie), 
Emma ( -1973), Frieda (-1918), Nikolaus, George (1892 - 1964) and Adolph.

1. Mathilda Richter married Jack Davidson. They have four children:
   - Neil: married Dorothy in 1911; their children are John and Bob
   - Jean: married Jimmy; daughter Silvia
   - Dorothy: maried Bernard Cholson; they have a girl Judy
   - Paul: married Diana; they have two children
   
2. Emma Richter ( - 1973) married Charley Hatch ( -1964).
   
3. Frieda Richter ...
   
4. Nikolaus Richter married Ethel; they have Allene, who married Chuck (Charles) Mueldener. 
   They live in Arvada, Colorado.
   
5. George Richter married Doris (1903 - 1990); their son is Neal Richter (*1930).
   
6. Adolph Richter married Lucille, they had a daughter Mary. Mary had two children, 
   a girl and a boy.
   
   

1. Julie Richter married Doug Baker: they have Victoria (*1997) and live in Newport News, 
   Virginia.
   
2. David Richter  married Alison: they have Kevin (*1993) and Lauren (*1996). 
   They live in San Francisco.
   
3. Bill Richter married LeaAnne Parlette (*1966); they live in San Francisco.

Anna Schuchmann from Darmstadt ....
(this information is from Ingrid and Hans Heiler in Waghäusel)

• George Schuchmann was born on July 8,1857 to George and Anna Schuchmann in the city 
  of Darmstadt in Hessen, near by Frankfurt/Germany.
  George left Germany to live with his brother Frank in New York City. Their sister Lena also 
  came to America and settled in Buffalo with her husband, George Habicht.
  
• The Schuchmann family in Germany were musicians. George had learned to play the violin. 
  At the age of 19, Frank decided that George should return to Germany to study the violin 
  more seriously. When he arrived in Germany, there were officers from the Germany army at 
  the port looking for recruits. George did not want to get drafted into the German army so 
  he stayed on the boat and returned to America. He decided to abandon his study of the violin 
  and took a job in a cigar factory.
  
• Hoping to meet former acquaintance, George Schuchmann began meeting all the boats 
  which were arriving with immigrants from Germany. One day when he went to Hobokan to 
  meet another boat from Germany, he met a young lady namens Maria Anna Klein  
  (grandmother of Alton Spitzmiller), who had come from Reilingen, a small town near Heidelberg, 
  Germany. Maria Anna was unable to speak English, so George helped her to communicate 
  with the immigration officers and others they met.
  
• George had been taught English by a young couple who had befriended him when he first 
  came to America. They had also helped him to obtain his citizenship papers. 
  Maria Anna, who was 22 years old when she arrived, ....????? ....
   
• ..?..

Ekkehard's mother Maria Kaier in Freiburg told me:
Allene Mueldener, in Colorado, is the grandaughter of Viktoria Spitzmiller-Richter and the niece 
of Emma Richter-Hatch. Her father ist Nikolaus Richter, son of Viktoria and brother of Emma. 
Allene and her husband had some friendly tea-hours in Freiburg and they are interested in the 
family ties in Germany and U.S.A.
